Since 1967, Canada has been a host to Grand Prix races, but it wasn’t until 1978 that the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal made its debut. This circuit has been a regular fixture on the racing calendar almost every year since then. Known for its high speed, the track features two lengthy straights, but it is also quite unforgiving, with walls positioned close to the track, minimal run-off areas, and tight hairpins. These elements force drivers to skillfully navigate the kerbs, especially before the first and last chicanes. A notable and infamous section is the final corner, dubbed the Wall of Champions, which has seen numerous top drivers crash into it over the years.

Predictions

With rain being forecasted through out the weekend, this grand prix becomes even more uncertain. With that being said, let’s make some predictions anyways. Starting with the qualifying round I see the top three going in this order: Lando Norris third, Leclerc second, and Max Verstappen first. With a little more space at this circuit compared to Monaco, I can see Red Bull coming back to form at least in qualifying. Now for the main race. I have the top three podium finishers going like this: fresh off a new deal and with a little be of help from the weather and proper strategy, I have Sergio Perez climbing up a place or two from the grid to place third. Coming in second I have Leclerc. Finally, Verstappen will be bent on making up for a “boring” sixth place finish in Monaco to win in Canada. Again, all of this could go out the window if we end up with a rain filled race.
