Weather could play a pivotal role in the outcome of this race. Whether its before or during the race on Sunday, be on the lookout for a damp track.
Drivers with Momentum
Yuki Tsunoda: With the eyes of his home nation upon him, Yuki Tsunoda carries the weight of expectation into the Japanese Grand Prix after picking up a nice set of points in the Australian Grand Prix. The RB driver will be fueled by the support of his fans as he seeks to deliver a second standout performance in a row on home soil.
Carlos Sainz: Fresh off a triumphant victory at the Australian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz arrives in Japan riding a wave of momentum. The Ferrari driver will be looking to capitalize on his recent success and prove why he is the hottest commodity on the market as he continues through this “revenge tour” of a 2024 season before the 2025 season.
Finding Form
Daniel Ricciardo: As the season progresses, Daniel Ricciardo finds himself under increasing pressure to deliver results for the RB team. Not long ago, the Australian driver was in the conversation for a possible return to Red Bull Racing but now the question is if he will be able to keep a seat in Formula 1 at all. It will be interesting to see how Danny Ric responds after a disappointing showing at his home Grand Prix.
Alpine: The racing team from France have been stuck at the back of the pack all season among various other internal turmoil. Hopefully Alpine can shine some light on their season after a disastrous start and begin moving in the right direction before this season goes completely off track.
Predictions
Qualifying Prediction: You never know what you are going to get out of qualifying, and that is what makes it so fun to watch. For this weekends qualifying, I have third place going to Sergio Perez of Red Bull. In second, I have that spot on the grid going to Charles Leclerc with his Ferrari car being able to keep up with the pace of the Red Bulls. Now for the top spot, I have pole position going to Max Verstappen, showcasing Red Bull’s formidable pace.
Race Prediction: As the lights go out on race day, I have a bit of a battle of the Ferrari’s for third place with this one going to Sainz who will start to build himself a little podium streak. Perez will mount a strong challenge up into second place to make up for his fifth place finish last time out in Australia. Coming off a surprising DNF in his last race, the Dutch Lion, Max Verstappen will ultimately triumph and reclaim his normal spot with a first place finish.
I’m buzzing with excitement for this weekend and I can’t wait till rubber meets the track in Suzuka. It was only a week break but that still felt too long. Again, I’ll be bringing you all the sights and updates live from Japan.
