Sergio Perez Inks Two-Year Red Bull Extension

The Mexican driver will stay with Red Bull through 2026

For months now, even going back to last season, the question has been, “Who will be in the second Red Bull seat after 2024?”. Now, Red Bull has finally answered the question, and it will be Sergio Perez once again.

Red Bull announced on Tuesday that Perez signed a two-year extension. After the opinion was that it would only be a one-year add-on. The Mexican driver keeps his seat, and Red Bull secures its long-rumored preferred option.

Red Bull Made Their Choice

Red Bull certainly must have had all the options available to them. With the driver market being as open as we have seen in awhile and Red Bull currently have the most dominate car in recent seasons, it’s no secret that a Red Bull seat is the most coveted right now. Drivers such as Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz were the other speculative front runners for the other Red Bull drive.

Belief in Perez

This is a huge vote of confidence in the six-time race winner made by Red Bull. A two year deal speaks volumes to the amount of trust the team has in Perez. The 14-season veteran is a safe pair of hands and Red Bull must be comfortable with him being the teammate to Max Verstappen. Red Bull is betting on cohesion that the pair will continue to fight at the front to capture points for team. The team must believe they can still contend for Constructors titles with this line-up. They have proven they can since winning it twice with Verstappen and Perez at the wheels.

Perez In High Spirits

Perez was delighted to re-sign and had this to say upon the official announcement:

“I am really happy to commit my future to this great team. It is a challenge like no other racing for Oracle Red Bull Racing, both on track and off track. — I am delighted to be staying here to continue our journey together and contribute to this team’s great history for two more years. Being part of the team is an immense challenge, and one I love. — I want to thank everyone for all the trust they are putting in me, it is a lot and I want to pay it back with excellent results on track, and off track. I think we have a lot of work to do, we have a lot more championships to win together.”

In all, a great move by Red Bull and an even better deal for Perez as he will stay with a top team battling for wins on race days.
